T2: L DOUBLE E D S

Growing up in Harehills, Leeds, T2 began his musical venture at 13, crafting hip-hop and R&B in makeshift studios and later from his bedroom with demo software. His creations, initially for close friends, soon broadened his horizons.
By 15, T2 had aligned with a local crew, diving into hip-hop production. At 16, inspired by the rising Grime wave, he took on instrumental production, a cost-saving tactic that also boosted his Leeds reputation as their CDs gained traction, marking his rise in the local music scene.

T2โ€™s journey into music production deepened with his exposure to Bassline at local raves. Initially cautious, he only started to share his Bassline works in early 2006, using mobile phone sharing as a promotional tool, despite some hesitations. His track โ€œSaving All My Loveโ€ found its way to key DJs at Sheffieldโ€™s Niche nightclub, like Shaun โ€˜Bangerโ€™ Scott,ย @djjamiedugganย , andย @djqmusicย , who played it in their sets, boosting T2โ€™s prominence in the Bassline scene.
In 2006, T2 embraced mobile sharing to distribute his music, seeing his unique fusion of Grime and Dubstep with Bassline resonate with listeners and mark a departure from the genreโ€™s traditional house and garage roots. This strategic dissemination and distinctive sound blend attracted a new audience to Bassline, showcasing T2โ€™s innovative contribution to its evolution.

2007 was a transformative year for Bassline, driven by T2 and Jodie Ayshaโ€™s hit โ€œHeartbroken,โ€ which climbed to number 2 on the UK charts and earned Platinum status, marking Basslineโ€™s major breakthrough in mainstream music. Originally an R&B song by a teenage Aysha, T2 reimagined it into a Bassline anthem within just 30 minutes. Its significant exposure began with Shaun Banger Scottโ€™s mix in January 2007, followed by DJ Qโ€™s national broadcast on BBC 1Xtra. This marked a pivotal shift, establishing Basslineโ€™s presence in Londonโ€™s music scene, previously dominated by UK Garage. โ€œHeartbrokenโ€™sโ€ success not only captivated the nation but also inspired Bassline producers to pursue broader recognition, symbolising a crucial period for Bassline, showcasing its mainstream appeal and securing its legacy in UK music history.
