PALEFACE: GOING GLOBAL

Starting his professional music career in 1998, Paleface quickly made his mark as both a production/library music composer and a member of the UK Garage collective “Madd Flexx.” By 1999, his music found placements on platforms like ITV and WWF, while the collective’s tracks surged on the Radio 1 Garage chart. The year 2000 saw the disbanding of Madd Flex, leading Paleface to join “Stonecold GX Crew,” where he became a notable DJ on the pirate radio scene and began releasing music and remixes under his own name.

Following Stonecold’s disbandment in 2003, Paleface refined his production skills as a mastering engineer at Transition mastering until 2004. This experience was pivotal, setting the stage for his solo career when he moved to Deptford, renting studio space from DJ Sticky and focusing intensely on his music, producing a diverse range of CDs beyond just UK Garage.

In 2005, a meeting with a friend up north inspired the launch of his own record label, Northern Line Records. The label brought new inspiration and saw him return to radio with the Northern Line Records show on Nottingham’s Basscutz station. The success of Northern Line Records prompted a move to Huddersfield, where Paleface immersed himself in the Bassline scene up north, achieving regular chart success on BBC 1Xtra’s Garage Charts.

2007 was a transformative year for Paleface, as he and his cousin Flukes formed Crazy Cousinz, igniting the UK Funky scene with hits like “Do You Mind,” featuring Paleface’s now-wife, Kyla. However, in 2009, Paleface left Crazy Cousinz due to personal reasons to manage Kyla’s career.

2016 marked a monumental year for Paleface and Kyla when Drake sampled their single “Do You Mind” for his global hit “One Dance,” which has achieved 18x Platinum status between UK & USA alone (15.2 million sales). As of 2024, Paleface continues to release music, leaving his mark across four different genres over four different eras, a testament to not only his versatility but to his enduring drive and passion for UK underground music.
